Avira had only bothered to go inside because his pack was heavy and his cats wanted to rest somewhere. But once Ignis and Caterva were settled, he was gone, turning to his only other form, a white raven, and taking to the skies. He only flew as far as the rooftop, where he alighted under a large awning.

He shifted back to his normal shape and looked around, pausing before walking up to the railing. The awning managed to cover that as well, and he was able to lean against the rail and stare out at the surrounding areas.

What was he doing here. He wasn't the kind of person to go running off after some random stranger. How had they even found him to begin with?

Avira sighed, head hanging. How long would he be able to stay here? No doubt the hunters were still hot on his trail. They would follow him forever, he knew that. Through generations and lifetimes until he was snuffed out like the rest of his family.

The white haired vampire shook his head to clear it of such thoughts, looking back out at the horizon. This was a new path, he just had to see where it led....right?

Giacinto had been flying around all day. She didn't use her crow form as much as she'd like, even though that's what her house in the mansion stood for. Aria - her feelings of freedom while flying.

She had been out to Catania and back just to say she'd been somewhere. But now, as she neared her mansion again, she wondered which newbie she could go and bother. She didn't feel like annoying any of her Chosen Regents today - which was a shock for her. She generally loved picking in Dick. One of her favourite pastimes of the last few centuries.

The Succubus' eyes caught a form on the roof, under the awning she had installed cause even when she ventured out during the day sometimes the sun could become too much.

She dove as if swooping in for the kill - her prey: the white head leaning over the railing.

Seconds before impact, she flapped her wings, slowing herself to just hover in front of the new vampire for a few seconds, head cocked to the side curiously before she settled on the railing next to him, wings tucked against her body.

The scent of vampire was high on the air, he could taste it. It was mixed with crow, like when he was in his own second form, and he lazily watched as a bird came to hover in his line of vision.

He was sure all the swooping and flapping was meant to scare him, but he knew a vampire when he smelled one, and he'd seen them coming a mile away. Avira simply let the bird formed blood-drinker settle beside him on the rail, and went back to staring out at the scenery.

A deep meow from his ankles confirmed that Caterva had appeared, the black cat leaping up onto his curved back and settling there as if he were just a ledge. His single yellow eye turned on the raven, watching its every move as if to say 'one wrong twitch towards my master and I'll kill you bird'.

Giacinto merely huffed as her previous actions didn't work in her desires to scare him. Fine, then. She'd keep trying until she scared him. She vowed herself to it.

She shifted back into her human form; sat on the edge of the railing, one leg crossed over the other, hands resting either side of her casually, looking out at the beautiful scenery. Her legs swung back and forth slowly. "Well, you're no fun."

She cocked a brow down at the cat. Was it threatening her? Please. It was a thousand years too young to even think about killing her.

"You're new here." It wasn't an accusation. Just a simple statement of fact.

"...Giacinto."

Avira, wholly unsurprised by the woman's change, didn't even look at her, still watching the lowering sun on the horizon. The light was reflected in his amethyst eyes, making them sparkle eerily.

Idly, he realized that he was meant to give his name now. Ah, he'd almost missed that. He'd need to be more careful, as he'd have to interact with people now.

"...Avira Revenwyte." he murmured in his lilting, off kilter musical voice.

The wind brushed through his long hair, playing with the silvery white strands and ruffling Caterva's fur.

Avira blinked slowly, but otherwise didn't move or make another sound.

The succubus gave a childish pout. "You're really not used to the whole talking thing, are you?"

She stared at him with her burning carmine eyes. If he wouldn't speak when she sopke, she'd make him so uncomfortable that he'd have to speak.

She gave a little nod as he spoke his name. First though that came to mind was: He has a pretty voice. "Pleasure, Avira."

Her blank stare didn't let up even as she raised her hand to stroke the top of the cat's head. She had grown quite fond of cat's considering she was technically a canine.

The wind played through her brown hair, tugging at the odd half-ponytail/half-bun, lifting it from her bare shoulder.

Caterva grudgingly allowed himself to be petted, but his pride dictated he absolutely did not purr. And so he didn't.

Avira hummed lightly in response to the woman beside him speaking. He really was paying attention, utter attention, as she was an unknown creature and he was a hunter. He didn't feel comfortable at all though.

Caterva sat still for another few moments, then got up and leapt from Avira's back, flicking his tail and slinking away into the shadows. Avira made no sign to have noticed him leaving, though in reality he was tracking him all the way back to his room, and Ignis.

"We've met." he said, still in a soft, barely there voice. "In the vestibule."

His long hair decided to obey gravity and slid off his back, tumbling down his side and laying against the ground, white against granite.

Giacinto's eyes followed the cat as he disappeared into the shadows.

Having been around for a long time - and with her previous occupation - she could tell when people were wary. Even though the boy was new, he had come here for protection. There was no need for him to be so uptight.

She poked his shoulder. "Relax a little. No one here's gonna attack ya."

When he spoke again she cocked her head to the side. "In the vesti... Oh! One of the newcomer's, right? Sorry about 'Nicio. There are times when he's not very social at all." She said that as if she was always a social butterfly. That was so far from the truth it was laughable.

Her eyes followed the fall of his hair. Giacinto loved long hair.

Avira didn't tense when he was poked, though inside he whined. He didn't like being touched. He didn't like new people and AGH WHAT HAD POSSESSED HIM TO COME HERE?

He simply shrugged off her second set of words.

"Pardon ma'am. I'm rather accustomed to being attacked at any given interval. Excuse me if I decline the invitation to relax."

Avira stood straight, reaching behind him to pull the ribbon from his hair, which he put between his teeth as he pulled his hair back again, tying it once more into a ponytail. Sometimes he thought to cut his hair, but then he would think of his long gone family and decided that, no, this was for the best.

When he didn't react she poked him again.

"A good portion of the people here are Hunters, darlin'. We all expect to be attacked at any time. Hell, I've made a shit-load of rather nasty enemies in my millenia of life. But I still relax."

She watched him silently as he fixed his hair.

A few moments later, she reached up, pulling the tie out of his hair and transferring it to her other hand to keep it away from him. She loved long hair. But she loved it more when it was down and flowing.

He did not question her, preferring to simply remain soundless and therefore 'agree' with her. It was how he dealt with most people.

Then, of course, the woman reached out, and before he could stop her, pulled the ribbon from his hair. Avira was quickly caught between an emotional reaction and keeping himself in check and it came out to rounding on the woman, long hair flowing out behind him.

"With all due respect." he said coolly. "I'd like that back. Now, please."

His eyes were shining royal purple rather than their usual violet, and though he knew that in a fight, he would lose against this woman, he was still making it clear he'd fight anyway.

And no, he was not going to explain his reasons, should she ask.

She grinned. A reaction.

With an easy shrug, she held up the ribbon, carefully out of his reach. "You can have it back..."

She leaned towards him, face dangerously close to his, fangs flashing in a toothy grin. "If you promise to leave your hair down."

With her free hand, she reached up to tug a lock of his free falling hair playfully. "Long hair always looks better free."

She completely ignored the threatening posture. She wouldn't fight. She didn't feel like fighting at the moment. Right now she was merely pushing him. Seeing how riled up he could get.

Avira watched as she held the ribbon away from him, over the edge of the railing, where it could fall and he would NEVER find it again....

Panic was setting in quickly.

But that was about when Ignis appeared, the blur of white leaping up onto Giacinto's arm and wrenching the ribbon from her fingers. The small ball of fur landed daintily on her master's shoulders, rubbing against him and dropping the ribbon into his hands when he reached up to grasp it.

In the blink of an eye, he was a good two yards away, sitting on the railing. His long hair thrown over his shoulder as he nervously braided it, licking his lips as his fingers worked through the silvery locks.

By the time he reached the end and was tying the ribbon, his hands were shaking slightly, though the rest of him was ridge as a statue. Pale fingers stroked the ribbon, his eyes turned back to the skyline, as if nothing at all had happened, Ignis in his lap.

Giacinto watched with curious carmine eyes as panic began to set into her companion's purple ones. The emotions weren't at all obvious - in fact, you'd have to be trained extraordinarily well to be able to see them - but Giacinto had been around a long time and had learnt at an early age that you had to read the eyes to get the upper hand.

It seemed this man had a connection to the ribbon.

Just as she was going to move the ribbon away from the railings (she may have been a bitch, but she wouldn't put deliberate danger to peoples precious items) a white cat decided to appear.

Her had tightened around the ribbon before she realised the cat smelt of Avira. Her hand fell slack and she watched the cat bring the ribbon to its master.

"You have a loyal cat - that's hard to find now-a-days."

A pout formed on her lips as she watched him begin to braid his hair.

The pout slowly dropped from her face as her eyes fell into the shaking hands. She hadn't meant to scare him - just annoy him slightly. Pout gone, her lips pulled into a little frown. Damn. Scaring her servants wasn't something she ever wanted to do.

Deciding that the best course of action would be to initiate conversation - try and prove she could be a nice woman at times - she opened her mouth to speak. "That ribbon - someone very precious gave it to you, didn't they?"

Avira hesitated. His mind began to work quickly on a reply but his body didn't move, staying still for a very long time. This didn't disturb Ignis, used to her master not moving for indefinite periods of time.

Minutes dragged by, and it was one of those times where Avira's mind wanted to just make him keep quiet. However this was one of this place's leaders, he could not simply ignore her. And moreover this whole taking minutes at a time to think of what to say was a very bad habit. He needed to break it.

Eventually, finally, he swallowed.

"Yes." he said quietly, his only response.

Yes....someone very precious had indeed given him that ribbon, as well as a handful of others, a very long time ago.

His fingers stroked over the silk as he tried not to think too far back. He didn't want to remember, he didn't want to even chance remembering.

Giacinto waited and waited.

She had shifted to haul her legs over the railing so she could leave via the staircase when he spoke again.

Damn, she was right.

That made her feel terrible.

She kept her eyes on the man for a few minutes as her mind passed over many different things.

Her hand twitched before it ran across her thigh, and slipped into her pocket, withdrawing with a scrap of old black fabric. The fabric was torn, frayed and faded to a mid-grey tone.

She unfolded the fabric carefully, letting it fall open over her palm. Nestled within the fabric was an old silver ring with a dull scratched red stone embedded in it. From first glance you'd assume that it was made by a rather terrible jeweller. That wasn't the case. The piece of jewellery was thousands of years old.

The woman scooted across the railings until she was a mere foot away from Avira. She held out her hand, offering the ring to him. "I was careless with something given to you by someone special."

Her eyes locked onto the landscape as she pulled her knees up to her chest, her free arm wrapping around them. "This ring was given to me by my first mate a long time ago. Its one of my most precious items. Do with it as you see fit."

It seemed only fair in her mind. She had been in possession of one of his precious items. So he could take one of hers.

Avira glanced at the woman, then down at her hand, the ring nestled in it. He watched quietly, as the dull silver caught the light.

Then he turned away again.

At his feet, Ignis and Caterva wound around one another, each cat mewing occasionally and curling their tails together. They did nothing besides though, just watching the two vampires.

"I have no interest in it." he murmured. "I appreciate your offer though. It is kind of you."

Turning back to her, his eyes, now more a lavender than an amethyst, watched her carefully.
