[C] Hard Day

"I was so worried that his spirit had been broken."

He had been so quite and had just sat there for days not doing anything.

The first week had been the worst, he hadn't wanted to eat and without forcing him trying to coax him into taking food and blood was difficult.

Now he was feeding himself when ever he wanted it and was getting healthier and happier.

Now at least he found his passion and Hayden hoped it sparked more life into the vampire.

"Me too."

But luckily, Ray was getting his spirit back.

Seeing him getting more and more comfortable with life was absolutely amazing. He was glad he could help in that process.

"Let's finish off our cake then head to bed. "

"Sounds good."

He muttered with a little smile as he reached over, dabbing his finger in the cream and wiping it on Dario's nose with a chuckle.

The boy leaned in slowly and swiped his tongue over the cream with a soft purr.

Food tasted better off of Dario's skin.

Dario chuckled when cream was smeared over his nose.

His nose wrinkled up a little when Hayden's tongue swiped over it.

His fingers dug into the boy's sides as he pulled him closer to lay a soft kiss to his lips.

"I love you."

Hayden licked his lips as he looked down at Dario with a smile, kissing him back with a purr.

"I love you too, more than you know."

He muttered, running his fingers through the man's hair gently. Hayden got another bit of cake and offered it to Dario.

Dario accepted the cake with a happy purr.

Tonight had definitely turned out better than he had expected.

After such a shitty day at work, coming home to Hayden pampering him like this and being able to talk to a happy Ray had definitely turned his mood on its head.

He was glad that he'd been able to relax like this.

Hayden smiled at that purr and offered Dario another chunk of cake.

He liked feeding Dario, it was his way of protecting the man, making sure he was well fed and healthy.

He couldn't do much for Dario but he tried his best to make the man's life easier and keep him happy in any way he could.

A fed Dario was a happy Dario.

The man enjoyed eating Hayden's cooking and it immediately put him in a good mood.

He loved it even more when Hayden was the one feeding him said amazing cooking and baking.

Right now, despite all the stress he had gone through just a few hours ago, Dario was happy. Relaxed and content to just lay here with Hayden.

Hayden nuzzled against Dario and continued to feed him, a little smile gracing his lips as he did so.

"One day all my cooking is going to make you fat."

The boy giggled softly as he took a small bite of cake for himself.

He loved baking and if you knew how to do it well you could make a lot of food very cheaply.

Each night Dario's take away dinners had a little treat in with his meal, whether it be some cookies, tarts, pastries or some other type of sweet that the boy had made.

"I doubt it," he chuckled, nuzzling against the boy.

Dario spent too many hours running up and down stairs and doing other rather strenuous activities that exercised him to get fat.

He barely took in enough food to keep him going at the moment. He was honestly shocked that he wasn't losing weight. More than once recently he'd given half of his dinner away to Hayden and Ray when neither of them had been paying attention because they had such small portions.

Food was stretching thin between the five of them on one small wage. Dario liked to make sure that Hayden and Ray at least ate well.

Hayden hadn't even noticed, he had tried his best to make enough food for everyone, but it was beginning to get difficult, there were things they couldn't afford anymore, and if it hadn't been for the fact that he got vegetables for free they would be going hungry.

Meat was more of a rarity now, much to Pina and Desi's disgust, but meat was expensive and they simply didn't have the money for it.

Hayden nuzzled back against him with a soft purr.

"Good then you can have some more."

He replied with a smile, offering Dario another spoonful before giving himself a small bite.

Dario loved his meats, but unlike his family, he didn't complain about not having it as often any more.

The man knew the money struggles they were going through better than anyone and he enjoyed the cooking Hayden did, even if it didn't contain meat. Hayden's cooking tasted good enough to make up for the lack of meat.

Dario took the cake happily.

He cuddled the boy closer, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.

Hayden smiled happily as he was cuddled and kissed, pressing the last of the slice of cake to Dario's lips.

"I'll hide the rest of it in the vegetable draw so you can have more tomorrow with your lunch."

It had been a small cake but there was enough there for him to have some tomorrow, it would be a nice little treat.

Hayden wished that money wasn't so tight, he had a passion for cooking and could do less and less as his ingredients were restricted.

"Showered and fed."
He muttered, kissing Dario's lips with a soft purr.

"Now I think it's time we curl up in bed and try get some rest."

It was late and Dario could use a decent nights rest.

"You and Ray can have it."

His fingers ran through Hayden's hair. "I think Ray feels lonely right now. He'd appreciate you sitting down with him to eat the cake and chat."

He could give up a slice of cake in his lunch tomorrow for the sake of making Ray happy.

The boy had looked so upset when he disappeared into the nest to go read.

"That sounds good. Come on, kitten." He picked Hayden up and carried him towards the bedroom.

They were two selfless men trying to do everything for the other, Dario would give up his cake for them and Hayden would give it up for Dario.

They would both sacrifice so much for the other.

Hayden purred when he was picked up, he was rather fond of they petname.

He cuddled in against Dario, wrapping his arms around him and pressing a kiss to his cheek as they went to curl up in the nest.
