[M] Desperation Empty
PostSubject: [M] Desperation   [M] Desperation EmptyMon Nov 26, 2012 11:53 pm

Coilean didn't want to do this. He really didn't want to do this.

But he was going to do it anyway. He had to. He just couldn't stand living with it. Just knowing it was there made him feel so disgusted in himself that he couldn't function properly. Every moment he allowed his mind to wander, it wandered to that. To how disgusting it felt. To how much he wanted to get rid of that feeling.

He needed it gone. Out of his life.

The Lycan raised a hand to press the tips of his fingers to the brand that Belial had left on his chest. Touching it made it seem even more real. He could feel the raised flesh. It made him even more disgusted.

His lips pressed together into a grimace. He needed it gone. Out of his life. Off of his skin.

Coilean had been preparing everything he needed for this little operation on the sly. Belial had let him free after he had finished with him. Let him go home, do whatever he wanted. He had taken full advantage of that time.

He had moved back into the mansion for this. Just for a few days. He had been living in secrecy. He was careful not to leave his scent anywhere. No traces of him being here. If people knew he was here, the knowledge could pass to Belial. He didn't want Belial knowing about anything.

And so what better place to go than right under the Demon's nose? In the same house. Coilean had fought so hard to get away from the mansion. To find his own way. Coming back to the mansion would be what people least expected. As long as no one caught him he was as good as safe here.

The Irishman inhaled slowly, fingers curling around the handle of a scalpel laid out in front of him. he had managed to borrow it from the medical wing without any trouble. After cleaning it off properly, he would return it. Leave the mansion with no traces of him being here.

He pressed the sharp silver blade to his skin, tongue darting over his lips nervously. With a slow inhale, he put more pressure onto the blade; it cut easily through the layers of his skin. Beads of blood welled up on his skin, streaking over it and staining it a dark crimson as he guided it across his chest as fast as he dared.

Pretty soon he had managed to cut a haphazard shape around the brand with the help of a mirror sat in front of him. He stared at it for a moment as he pulled the scalpel away, taking in the mess of blood his chest had become. It looked like he had been mauled by something truly evil. There was so much blood. So much. it made him feel queasy just looking at it.

But he couldn't dwell. he could upchuck the contents of his stomach after he had finished what he needed to do. Any second Belial could walk through the door behind him and catch him. If he was caught he was dead. He couldn't risk it.

With a loud hiss of pain, he began peeling back the skin within the haphazard shape he had cut, using the scalpel to cut away any skin he couldn't tug away himself. More blood spilled from the wound, staining his hands. His teeth sank into his lip, trying to ignore the immense pain he felt.

He needed to get this done. He could succumb to the pain.

The process was a slow and painful one but eventually the massacred lump of bloody flesh that used to be the skin of his chest dangled limply from his blood coated hand; on it Belial's brand. He tossed the flesh to the side in disgust, cringing it when it hit the floor with a loud, wet slap.

But now the main process was over he needed to start clean up. As much as he wanted to slump to the ground and sleep, he was most likely to bleed out if he didn't tend to his wound.

His trembling fingers picked up a large square of gauze and used it to mop up the saliva on his face and neck. He had been paying too much attention to his work to care about how much he was drooling over himself with the pain.

But the drool would be put to use. He spat on the gauze, tongue laving over it to coat it in a generous amount of saliva. He would need it. That would would not heal too well by itself. It needed the healing properties of Lycan saliva.

A cry of pain sounded as he pressed the wet material to his chest, curse after curse running through his mind. He pressed down on it, trying to stop the flow of blood.

But even now he wasn't finished. He needed to protect himself. Belial would find him and she would be ballistic with rage. He needed to find a way to keep himself safe.

His fingers curled limply around an old spell book, dragging it towards him. He had all sorts of spells and magic in here. Perhaps he could find one that could protect him against Belial. It was most likely a lost cause but he had to try. He would be killed otherwise.

Belial lay out on his bed, he had been resting besides Zakhar, whom he had spent the night with.

He rolled over in his sleep, wincing softly as the mark on his back slowly heated up, he ignored it for a moment until the flesh stung.

His purples eyes blinked open hazily as he pulled himself to sit up, looking over his shoulder at the mark, the usual dull red colour flared, looking bright against his skin.

It was a blood ritual, a strong summoning, something like that could only be performed with a mark that he himself had given someone, and so far the only people on Earth who had one were both Zakhar and Coilean.

His eyes darted to the Lycan beside him who slept peacefully.

Coilean.

The Demon rose to his feet and hastily put on a shirt and jeans, the Lycan may be in trouble.

Finding the man was easy enough, enough blood had been spilled on his mark that when he teleported he was dragged right to him.

Belial stood in the storage area, staring at the massacre in front of him.

Silently he stepped forward, leaning down to pick up the discarded piece of flesh that lay abandoned on the floor, turning it over his eyes narrowed as he glanced over his mark, Coilean had carved it out of his chest.

The Demon had stopped breathing as his eyes darkened the longer he stared at the mark.

He stood there silently for a moment before his black gaze turned up to stare at the Lycan, his expression completely devoid of emotion.

He flicked through page after page of spells, looking for something useful.

He needed a way to keep himself safe from Demons, not to summon them. he wanted to hide from them, keep himself hidden for as long as he could.

Belial would find him and when he did he wanted to be ready for him.

He needed to find himself a powerful cloaking spell - one so powerful it worked on Demons. And after that he needed to run. To find other Exorcists. To hide with them until he couldn't hide any more.

Coilean faltered when Belial's overbearingly angry presence filled the room.

No. NO! This wasn't supposed to happen yet. Belial wasn't supposed to find him. Nonononononono.

Fear kept him frozen in place, his back to the Demon, still bent over the book. Unadulterated fear. He had done the unforgivable to the most powerful Demon on Earth; he had destroyed his claim on one of his people. One of the few people he had claimed.

A crime punishable by death.

"Did you forget that my rune and blood are used in my summoning ritual?"

His words were flat, they held no emotion, no indicator for the rage that currently surged through the Demon's body.

This was one of the largest acts of disrespect that anyone had ever dared to do to the Demon, to say that he was infuriated was an understatement, Belial had not felt emotion quite like this since he had Fallen, it was beyond words, there was no describing it.

He took a step forward and placed the piece of flesh down on the blood coated table, his eyes turning back down to it.

"Turn around."

He commanded as his gaze looked back up, baring into the back of the man's head.

Yes.

He had forgotten. How could he have forgotten?

He was an imbecile. That... That mistake was going to cost him his life. He was going to die right here and right now because his pride refused to let him submit to anyone.

Fear pricked at him.

If he was going to die, he would put a brave face on while doing so. He couldn't die baring his throat like a cowards. He'd go out with a fight.

And so he school his expression into a cold mask and turned slowly.

His entire torso was stained with blood. He still held the damn cloth to the wound, hiding it from Belial's view as he continued to attempt to stem the blood flow. Blood soaked into the dark material of his jeans and stained his orange hair red.

Belial's lips quirked into a little smile as his fingers traced over the lines of his mark, which lay on a blood coated piece of skin upon the table.

"You'd think, after all these millennia that I would become accustomed to being hated, but this...
This is a whole new level of resentment."

His eyes examined the man's chest, he was coated from head to toe in his own blood, his chest was mutilated and soon he would've experience enough blood loss to render him unconscious, then he would most likely die.

The Demon's mind flickered between what he was going to do, he was furious and all he could think about was tearing the man's head off of his shoulders.

He stared up at the Demon silently.

Resentment. That was a good word to use.

But against the Demon? Not in particular. He wasn't fond of Belial but he didn't hate him. He hated what he had done. He had claimed him as his own. Dominated him. Coilean couldn't handle that.

He was too prideful and wild to ever be tamed.

And his wild pride was what had spurred him to gouge out part of his chest.

His breathing was slightly lighter than normal, his cheeks a lot more pale. He was losing too much blood. It was sheer willpower keeping him standing and staring at Belial at the moment.

The saliva wasn't working quite as well as he hoped. He had hoped he would have stopped bleeding by now. The wound had almost stopped weeping, but there were still a few beads of blood welling up and running down over his chest.

Slowly and carefully he pulled the gauze away to look down at the wound. It was horrific. But at least it wasn't bleeding. His gaze rose to meet Belial's again as he tossed the gauze aside.

Belial's eyes narrowed, the pitch black irises gazing down at the large gouge in the man's chest before returning to stare at Coilean's blood splattered face.

Hatred and anger rolled off of the Demon in a thick smog, the room seemed darker because of his presence, colder, as a chill descended upon them because of the fact that the Lycan would rather tear himself over than have the Demon's mark on him.

Belial's hand left the marked skin on the table and moved to pick up the scalpel that they there discarded and blood coated.

He stalked forwards a few steps until he was right in front of the man, his cold breath caressing his cheeks, like the cold fingers of death as the Demon stared down at him.

His eyes followed every movement the Demon made as he picked up the scalpel and walked over to him.

Each step thudded in his ears dully.

Step.

Step.

Step.

Coilean still stared, face expressionless, eyes full of fear. Was this it then? The end? Staring up into a Demon's angry face as he held a scalpel ready to attack?

The saying 'your life flashes before your eyes before you die' ran through his mind. And yet the images didn't come. He didn't see anything from his past. All he saw was the cold black eyes of Death as they stared down at him.

Belial simply stared down at him, his eyes hard and cold.

He lifted the scalpel and with one swift movement the sharp blade met flesh, tearing it open with easy as more blood spilled onto the floor.

The Demon pursed his lips and dropped the blade to the ground, one slice was enough.

He looked down at the Lycan with the same cold, deathly expression, however it wasn't Coilean that he had sliced open, it was himself.

Belial had dug the blade deep into his own palm, blood swelled up and spilled onto the floor as he moved his hand and pressed it firmly against the Lycan's chest.

Nothing in this world healed wounds better than Demon blood, there was no rival for it.

Once the man's wound was coated thickly with the Demon's own blood Belial removed his hand and turned around silently, picking up the discarded skin from the table and walking off towards the door, holding it in his clutches.

Coilean's eyes followed the path of the blade as Belial lifted it before his eyes slid shut.

This was the end.

He heard the sound of skin tearing under the sharp blade but he felt no pain. He felt nothing until Belial pressed his hand to his chest.

His silver eyes flashed open, staring up at Belial in shock and wonder.

He...he was healing him? Why?

He had done nothing short of signing his death warrant and here was Belial preventing him from dying...

He didn't understand.

Coilean watched the Demon stride towards the door silently for a few minutes before stumbling forwards after him. He didn't know why he was giving chase. He didn't know what he would say or do once he got to Belial. He didn't know anything.

And yet he still stumbled forwards.

Belial kept walking, his mind too clouded with anger to notice the Lycan stumbling after him.

As soon as he had entered that room he knew he was going to send Coilean to Hell for his insolence, he had killed many others and none of them had done anything close to what the Lycan had done today.

Perhaps it was the way that Coilean stood there and met his death without sniveling for forgiveness, they would have been empty words, he would've only been sorry for getting caught.

Maybe the Demon wanted him to suffer, tormenting him the way he did. Keeping him alive could be a way for prolonging his torment.

It could be that he had bigger plans for him, or even be fond of him.

Belial's intentions or reasons were a mystery, yet there he was, walking down a corridor, his palm healing over already, a chunk of flesh in his grasp and blood dripping from his fingers.

Belial walked away silently.

And yet Coilean still followed. He stumbled again, leaning against the wall for support, leaving behind a red hand print as he pushed himself forwards, smearing blood along the wall as he tried to catch Belial up.

He had a question to ask.

Just one question. Nothing else.

He didn't know what he was doing, why he was doing this. It was one question. One measly question but it meant everything to him. He needed Belial to answering.

One measly question.

"Why?"

One measly word.

The sound of the man's question snapped him out of his haze and he turned around to face the stumbling Lycan, the Demon's expression was still vacant and hard but his eyes had began fading, currently holding an extremely dark purple.

Why?

He had thought that the Lycan would be running off to find somewhere to hide from him, not chasing after him to ask such a stupid question.

Did it matter why he had done it, Coilean still had his life and he should've been happy with that.

"Does it matter?"

He asked, standing perfectly still as he looked down at the blood soaked Lycan.

"I want to know."

He just knew that his mind would not rest until he knew the answer.

He would keep thinking about it, playing the scene over and over, finding his own answers, wondering whether they were right, letting it haunt him.

"You should have killed me."

By no means was he displeased with the result of this. He was overjoyed with the fact that he was still alive. But he couldn't understand. Why?

Why. That one fucking word running around his head, attaching itself to other words to form more questions that he wanted answering.

Why did he not kill him?
Why was he still alive?
Why had Belial healed him?
Why did Belial take that chunk of skin with him?
Why was he worried about what would happen in the future between them?

Why. Why why why why. Fucking why.

"Why?" he asked again.

"You're right, I should have killed you, if you want me to remedy that I would be more than happy to, you can go say hello to Lucifer for me, it's been a while."

He replied, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked over the Lycan, he was surprised that Coilean could still stand, let alone chase him down the hallway for something so foolish.

Perhaps he didn't have as much self preservation as he had first though.

"Go home, Coilean."

Right now the Demon wanted to go up to his room, break something then go back to sleep, not stand here and justify himself.

He hadn't answered his question. Just thrown an idle threat at him.

All he wanted was to know why he was still alive. Why had he been healed.

If he knew that then he could quite happily carry on with life. Go about with how life used to be.

Go back to Ciro and their little apartment and pretend to live a human life.

But he couldn't do that until he knew.

Belial scoffed softly, Coilean was annoyingly persistent, he wasn't going to leave the Demon alone until he had an answer.

"Do you know when last time someone did something so malicious towards me was?

When they tore the wings out of my back and tossed me into the pit, then I helped create hell and all it's occupants as retribution, after that my old brethren were sorry.

Yet there you were, carving yourself open to spite me, then you looked death in the face and didn't even flinch."

Belial shook his head and turned back around, walking towards the stairwell that led towards the third floor.

Something about the way Coilean had stood up to him had compelled him to let him live, though he wasn't sure what.

Curiosity? Admiration? something...

That answer had a whole new slew of questions running through his head.

He had been the first one to be so cruel since he had been cast from heaven?

That was...shocking. Compared to some, his malicious behaviour was child's play. Just a childish bout of hatred. And yet no one had directed anything like that to Belial in...however long he had been alive?

So...he hadn't killed him because he hadn't flinched and cried and begged for life like so many others would.

He could have laughed at that.

Mentally he thanked his mother for giving him her temper and lack of self preservation. Without her, he was sure that he would have collapsed into tears. The O'Ceallaigh idiocy seemed to still be intact after millennia.

Coilean took another step forwards as if to follow Belial before stopping himself.

"Thank you, Master." And then he turned his back and began stumbling back down the hall.

He owed Belial his life. He may not like the idea of doing so but the facts were plain. If he had been taught anything, it was to hold things like that precious to him, no matter who it was. Belial had given him the gift of continued life and he now owed that life to him.

The same had happened when Alek had given him that gift. For years he had hated Alek, but there had always been that sense of honour looming over him; a need to respect and obey.

The same would be put forwards to Belial.

Plenty of people had done cruel things to him since his fall but never something personal.

Churches hatred him and cursed his name regularly for their damnation.

Exorcists thought of him as some prize, trying exile him back to hell as some show of superiority,

Other Demon's challenged him in order to gain rank and human's had done countless things to him, not knowing of his species.

But all of this was done in a detached way, none of them knew him, he didn't know them.

What Coilean did was personal, it effected him.

Belial stopped in his tracks as Coilean thanked him and began stumbling off.

Again the Lycan had been able to surprise him, three times in one day.

He turned around and walked up behind the Lycan again, resting a hand on his shoulder.

"You can barely stand, I'm taking you home."

He muttered, that wasn't a question, he hadn't spared the man's life just for him to overexert himself and end up dead anyway.

Coilean nodded a little.

He liked the idea of being home.

He had all but ignored Ciro's presence in the last few days. It would be nice to get home and spend a little time with him. Watch a movie or slagging off whatever shit was on TV at the moment.

That sounded nice.

He turned his gaze up to Belial and attempted a half smile at the Demon. He was thankful, he was just still trying to get used to the idea of owing Belial his servitude like he now did.

The...hatred was gone. Or at least in a far off corner of his mind.

Belial leaned down and scooped the Lycan up, he didn't trust him not to fall over when they ported, not when he was suffering from that amount of blood loss.

The next moment they were standing in his apartments bathroom, he didn't know whether or not the human he lived with would be around, and turning up in their current state would cause the human alarm.

He shut the toilet lid with his foot and set Coilean down on top of it, turning on the shower.

"You should get cleaned up."

He muttered as he went to the sink and cleaned the blood off of his hands and forearms.

He looked over the piece of flesh still clutched in his hand before it vanished from sight, he had sent it away.

Once Belial was free of blood he left the bathroom for Coilean to shower, heading into the living room.

The Lycan felt a jolt in his stomach as they ported.

That was definitely not a pleasant experience when he was already feeling this queasy from watching himself cut himself open like that.

But as he breathed in the familiar scent of the cheap, crappy air freshener that he and Ciro used, a small smile curled his lips and his stomach began to calm. He was home.

Home. He had been using that a lot over the last few days. He had never thought he would consider this little apartment home. A tiny little apartment big enough for one that he shared with a human that didn't know about him. It was strange that he chose here over the mansion to call home.

Coilean pushed himself into a standing position and staggered to the bath.

It took a while to get himself clean and after he was, he stood in front of the mirror, staring at himself for a good long while. His hair had grown since last tie he had had attention to it again. His was hanging by the top of his thighs now. His chest was once against the same defined muscle as it had once been before he neglected himself when Avira left.

His flesh was still raw and red on his chest but it was healing over slowly. He could already see the shiny red layer of new skin. In a few days that would be almost back to normal. He'd always have an odd shape of slightly raised flesh, though. That would be strange to look at in the future.

After he had gotten himself cleaned up he felt a whole lot better. He was still tired and he knew he'd need to eat his weight in blood-replenishing foods and sleep his blood loss off but he was feeling brighter. His eyes were more in focus than they had been before.

He ran his tongue over his lower lip before padding out into the living room, running a hand through his hair with a soft hum, wearing nothing but a small towel around his waist.

Belial was already way ahead of him, being able to teleport meant being able to get things done in a heart beat.

He was wearing a fresh, non-blood coated set of clothing, simple dark jeans and a black wife-beater which clung to his torso.

He had also managed to ransack the mansion's kitchen, currently occupying himself over the stove, having a pan sitting on each burner.

The Demon didn't know why he was bothering, a moment ago he didn't want to be anywhere near the man and now he was cooking for him, making sure he was alright.

He sighed softly and tossed all the food onto multiple plates, Lentil stew, steak, spinach and steamed broccoli.

His blood count would be up in no time.
Belial placed the food out on the table before moving to sit on the couch as Coilean padded out of the bathroom.

"Eat."

He muttered softly as he flicked on the television, turning his attention to it.

The smell of food hit his nose and he was wandering over to the table before Belial even gave him the order.

He passed over the stew. It looked...less than pleasant. He may need the food to up his blood count but he really wasn't up for trying something that looked like that.

But he picked up the plate and moved to take his usual seat on the couch next to Belial.

He and Ciro owned a table but it rarely got used for eating on. The two of them were notorious for eating dinner out of their lap in front of the TV. Neither of them minded the setup so eating together on the couch watching movies was almost a tradition now.

Coilean cut into the steak and lifted a piece to his mouth, chewing on it slowly as his eyes settled on the screen.
