I didn't want to wake up

Gerhard had called to gather his two vampire followers into the kitchen for a little meeting.

Emory had already been making himself useful by seeking out a lycan to keep Tomaso alive.

It was time he put Cade to further use.

When Cade walked into the kitchen, the once shaggy-haired vampire she'd tried to pick a fight with was sitting in a chair with a black cloak wrapped around his neck.

Gerhard was shamelessly cutting away at his thick messy hair, trying to make it look nice. Blue clumps of hair nested around the floor.

Gerhard had Den sitting in the corner of the kitchen, naked as the day he was born. Den wasn't tied up though. Ger felt he had enough control over the young man and didn't need to bind him to keep him in place.

Just for show, he had a pretty little ball-gag in Den's mouth.

Cade thundered down the stairs in her usual manner as she made her way to the kitchen. She had a bit of kick in her step. Being called by Ger meant Ger would be giving her some attention. She was excited for that.

With her lips stretched into a grinm she almost bounced into the kitchen.

"You called for me, sir?" Even her voice sounded very cheerful.

Marty didn't care much what hairstyle he had. 

It was long and shaggy because he just didn't care enough to keep it nice.  So long as it wasn't too long, he gave little-a-shit about his hair.  

He sat sucking on what looked like a lollipop, but was actually a little something Gerhard had obtained that was made up of supernatural blood and drugs.  The perfect little treat for the stupid little junkie.

He was told that if he did what Gerhard wanted, he'd stay supplied.  

And there was hardly a thing Marty hadn't done in the past to get his fix.

How a vampire was able to be so heavy on their feet was a mystery to Gerhard. Especially a vampire as little as Cade. It didn't make much sense at all.

'Such an odd little girl.' He thought, looking down at Marty's head and continuing to cut off long strands of hair.

He didn't look up as Cade spoke.

"Yes." He said, no readable emotion in his voice.

"I have a job for you. Giacinto sometimes likes to 'adopt' humans as her playthings." He said, glancing over at Den. There were many vampires who did this. It wasn't uncommon. Humans were only good for three things; sex, food, and conversion.

"I want you to scope out who she's taking a liking to and bring the human back to me. Don't kill it. But if anyone else is there when you take the human, kill them. I don't want any witnesses. We're keeping a low profile for now until we get stronger. Understood?"

Den's eyes flickered up briefly at the mention of the ancient Vampire's name. He knew that name. Shirley had been involved with a Vampire woman called Giacinto before he had died. Was it the same woman?

Cade bit her lip. He wanted her to take someone else's pet? In her clan, it was very looked down on to take someone else's pet.

But this Giacinto woman wasn't in her clan...

"How quickly do you want it done, sir?"

Marty's dull brown eyes were focused in on Den.  His expression was a bit mysterious as he twirled the bloody lollipop along his tongue.  

Did he... know that guy?

He smelt familiar but Marty couldn't for the life of him remember how he recognized the human's scent.

Gerhard didn't care for many of the ideals Cade's old clan held. This was his own coven with his own rules.

And he was going to hit Tony where it hurt.

He wanted to teach her a lesson.

Step one was to start to take away something she had claimed as her own.

"I don't much care for how much time it will take you, so long as your work is good. I want you to take a human that actually means something to Giacinto." He said, running a comb through Marty's much shorter hair.

He'd cut it down enough that there was no more blue. Marty's natural brown hair was all that was left. The German man started to style it so that Marty looked decent in his eyes.

He had an image he wanted his children to uphold. If they looked less pitiful maybe they'd stop acting so pitiful. Fat chance in Marty's case. Ger had his work cut out for him on this one.

Cade nodded.

She'd rather get the job done sooner than later in any rate, but she was glad that there was no impossible deadline set on her.

"I'll tail her for a few days and see who she interacts with most." She would definitely find whoever was important to Giacinto and bring them back to her master.

Marty's head tilted back and dipped like a bobble-head.  He wasn't used to having his head feel so light.  

With a loud smack he pulled the sucker from his mouth and looked up at Gerhard behind him.  

"I think know him."  He said, pointing over at the very naked Den.

"Make this one useful and take him with you.  You'll work as a team." He said, running his hand through Marty's hair and ignoring the boy's statement.  

He looked down at Martin back and used his thumb to wipe away some blood on the corner of his lip.  

Clicking his tongue in disapproval he shook his head.  

"So pathetic." He murmured.

Cade's gaze turned down to Marty and her expression soured a little.

She was smart enough to not whine about Ger's decision to have the other Vampire tag along with her, but she was clearly rather unhappy with the decision. She worked better alone.

"When do you want us to set off, sir?"

If Marty was offended at Gerhard calling him pathetic, he hid it well.  Instead he just playfully clicked his teeth together, mimicking an attempt to bite Ger's thumb.  

He then let his eyes wander over to Cade.  

Putting the sucker back in his mouth he studied her face.

An annoyed huff left Gerhard's lips at Marty's care-free antics.

"I'd prefer it if you did so as soon as possible. Buy yourselves some nicer clothes while you're at it. The both of you look like homeless scum." He said coldly.

He pulled out a card from his wallet and flicked it towards Cade for her to catch.

He didn't care what Cade or Marty chose to wear while in the mansion. But when they were out and about, he wanted them looking their best.

Cade's gaze turned down to Marty when he playfully pretended to bite Ger. Her eyes narrowed and her expression turned dark. How dare he act so playful with her master?

Still glaring at Marty, she lifted her hand to catch the card in mid-air as casually as she would scratch her ear. She tucked it into the front pocket of her jeans.

"We'll leave first thing tomorrow evening." She wanted the rest of this evening to pack what she needed and make sure Rizzo would be okay alone for a few days.

The next night Marty was curled up in his bed with his pillow over his head instead of under it.  

His skeletal fingers were clinging tight to the pillow over his head and his legs were tangled up in the blankets.  

He didn't look very comfortable, but he was fast asleep and didn't look like he'd be waking up anytime soon without some assistance.  

Gerhard had told him that he would get more 'candy' when he did what the German man wanted.  

This was not pleasing to Marty, but he didn't bother fighting or questioning the hand that was feeding him.

Cade had been waiting in the kitchen for the annoying piece of shit for twenty minutes.

She was bored of waiting now, so she took matters in her own hands. She stormed up the stairs and to Marty's bedroom door. She threw it open. It banged against the wall.

"You're still fucking asleep? Get up! We're wasting time!"

Cade was louder than the sound of gunfire the way she busted in and immediately started shouting.  

The vampire's impulse reaction was to pretend that he was dead.  He had gotten quite good at it over the years.  

Maybe if he could convince her he was dead she'd leave to go get help and he could buy some more time to snooze.

The pretending wasn't going well for him. She could hear his heartbeat.

So he was definitely alive. There was no excuse for him stil sleeping in.

Cade yanked his blanket off his bed. "Up! Come on. I want to get this done quick so we can get back home."

"Jesus fuckin' Christ on a cinnimon bun, shut the fuck up." He groaned, holding the pillow tighter to his head.  

As his blankets were ripped from his bed he pulled his knees up underneath his torso, causing his ass to go up in the air.

"Then get the fuck up," she retorted immediately.

She reached over to yank his pillow off his head.

"Come on! I wanted to leave twenty fucking minutes ago, but your lazy ass is still fucking sleeping. I want to get on the road sometime this millennia. Get up!"

Her voice was getting increasingly louder the more annoyed she was getting.

Marty made desperate grabby-hands at the pillow as it was pulled away from him.  

He sat up, his head throbbing, body aching, and very very irritated.  

For a moment he didn't even hear what she was saying.  All he could make out was obnoxious yelling noises.  

The hell was she talking about?!

Slowly his memory returned to him.  

"Oi... yer the little fucker 'ho kicked a book in m'face." He hissed, scowling.

"Yeah I am. I'm also the little fucker who wants you downstairs and in my fucking car in the next ten mintes."

She crossed her arms over her chest.

"Get some clothes on your white ass and lets go."

She wanted this over with.

"Bloody hell alright just shut up already!" He shouted back at her, reaching up to grab onto his hair.  

His fingers grasped at nothing.  

He'd forgotten that Ger had given him a haircut.  In a second he was out of bed and looking at himself in the mirror.  

"Aw I look like'm from tha forties again." He pouted, running his hand through the short locks.  

He hated the forties and fifties.  

Once dressed, Marty slumped out of the house and got into the car, curling up in the front seat and refusing to wear a seatbelt.  

He pulled his hoodie up over his head and tried to hide under it, pulling the strings and causing it to close up around his face.

Cade gave a brilliant smile as Marty got up. She'd won.

She skipped (loudly, of course) down the stairs and waited in the car.

She didn't care that he was sulking in the passenger seat as she drove. She was more concerned with finding a good playlist to listen to, flicking through her iPod until she found a good tune.

"Primadonna girl, yeah
All I ever wanted was the world," she sang loudly.

Marty's head was throbbing.  It hurt so bad he thought he could be sick.  And then this little brat had to go and start singing horribly.  

The vampire growled and shifted in his seat, covering his ears.  

In a motion he turned onto his back and started kicking at the car's radio system over and over again, destroying it with the first blow but taking some of his anger out on it.
