Good Boys with Dark Secrets [I]

In the crisp stale early winter afternoon among the bustle of shoppers Jim stands tall in a long black trench coat, hands covered by black leather gloves, his head enveloped by the shade. He has been spending many of his afternoons outside the coven, exploring the city, haggling with local merchants for that is where he is in his true element. Jim picks up a green apple and rubs it against the breast of his coat, shining it before taking a bite and flicking a coin to the merchant. The vampire strides down the street as he chews, gazing at faces passing by, his eyes lingering on those of the more beautiful.

Jim has decided to write a poem about the most beautiful person he encounters that day, something he has been doing everyday since he arrived at the coven. There has been a sense of guilt lingering in the pit of his heart for not interacting more with his fellow supernatural beings, but for him there seems to be a sort of comfort about being around humans. It makes him feel more in control during this period of his life where everything seemed to be so hectic.

The vampire pauses and leans against a wall as his eyes fall over a young woman sitting at a cafe, sipping a cup of cherry blossom tea. Her thick strawberry blonde cascades casually over her right shoulder and around the contour of her supple breast as her teeth click against the smooth glass of her cup to take a sip. Jim lets out the softest sigh through his nose as he starts to compose an ode to this woman who will never know how much she inspires this supernatural man.

Tom was taking a walk himself, trying to clear his head.

Everything happening in his life was coming down on him so fast, he barely had time to think anymore.

He was still adjusting to his new lycan body. All of his senses were sharper. Especially his sense of smell.

He could hardly stand walking by any butcher shops or deli's without his mouth watering and his stomach growling.

As such he'd purchased an all meat sandwich. Just as he was about to dig in, he caught the scent of something... dead?

It smelt like a corpse... but it was so strong! Not far from where he was!

What if it was a body?

He followed his nose, praying that whatever he discovered wouldn't be gruesome.

When the smell led him to the sight of a man innocently writing, Tom tilted his head in confusion.

Something was not right about this man.

Tom inched closer... and closer... trying to get a better look.

As the youthful looking vampire writes line after line about the beautiful young human before him he catches the scent of another supernatural being in the area... One drawing closer and closer.

Jim's stunning blue eyes flicker up as he senses the presence of some kind of... Canine. He scans the crowd, unmoving except for those eyes, searching for the source.

His eyes eventually latch onto an impressively handsome man in the crowd, tall, brown hair, he is rather impressive. But Jim is almost positive the scent is coming from him and from the way he's looking at James, the vampire can deduce he can sense his aura as well.

The finely dressed blood drinker snaps his poem journal closed and turns to face the mystery man, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his breast. He keeps a small smile pursed on his fine lips, his eyes scanning shamelessly to become acquainted with his fellow supernatural being's appearance.

Tom froze awkwardly when the young man noticed him.

For a brief while, it was a simple stare down.

Tom realized the young man actually looked like a young boy dressed as a man.

How odd.

"S..sorry. I just smelt something dead." He said.

He immediatly regreted saying that.

"Ah, sorry, that came out wrong!... I'm new to this." He admitted, hanging his head.

Jim chuckles softly and gives his head a single nod to the mysterious, awkward man.

"Quiet alright. I seem to be smelling a hint of dog too now that you mention it," he speaks in the upmost proper yet teasing fashion. Jim leans in a little closer to the man before him and speaks under his breath,

"It would be a lie though if I tried to convince you I was in fact living," he nods his head politely, "Care to take a walk with me?" He questions the man, but starts taking a few steps forward to signify that he will be taking a walk anyway if he declines the offer. Jim makes sure to walk only in the path covered by shade, a calm expression on his youthful face.

The poem will finish itself later.

He was not living. That could only mean a few things, according to Tom's research.

The man was either a vampire, or Tom was completely going insane.

He took a few steps and caught up to the proper, yet youthful looking man.

"I'm Tom." He introduced himself. He didn't bother saying he was a lycan. The vampire implied he all ready knew.

Jim extends his gloved right hand as the two men walk together to shake Tom's in greeting.

"James," he speaks casually, straining very slightly to not say his last name, who knows what people would connect him to the oil company? "It's a pleasure to meet you. I am going to assume you are from or associated with the coven then?" he inquires, making sure to walk in the shade as they socialize together on this lovely late afternoon.

"Yes, likewise." Tom said with a grin. He liked the way that James presented himself. He was polite, proper, and seemed educated. For all Tom knew, the vampire could be thousands of years old. It wouldn't be surprising if he was very educated indeed.

"I don't live at the coven, but I'm thinking about it. I've just recently... changed." He said, lowering his voice. It was a great secret people like James and Tom shared.
