[C] The Worst Idea to Date

"Sure. It'll be interesting to see where you spend your time when you're not with me, or working."

He knew Dick liked to read, but he had no idea how big the library was.

By the fireplace in the library sat a tall, broad man in a large red leather armchair, buried deeply into a book. His mid-length brown hair curled around his tanned face.

He looked up with almost luminous silver eyes when the two entered the room.

"This is it. " He opened the door and smiled at Fleck as he lead him into the libary.

He spotted another being in the corner of the room by the fire place. Even if he knew that there would probably be others in here, he still hoped it would be empty.

He gave Alek a polite nod. In the few years he had known him, they have never gone past small talk and polite nods as they passed each other.

"Dick," Alek intoned politely in return. His gaze turned up to Fleck and he gave him an interested quirk of his brow before nodding politely. It wasn't often you saw human companions here.

Fleck gave a little nod back, not sure what else to do. This man carried himself with an air of importance that Fleck wasn't used to. He was probably ancient royalty or something.

Was he a vampire too? Fleck had just assumed that everyone that was here was.

He glanced up and noted Fleck uncertainty.

"This is Fleck," he said to Alec, fingers lacing between Fleck's. "My partner."

He didn't mean for the last bit to be an after thought. But he was very uncertain how that will go down. He didn't know Alec well other than he was much older than him - he was around when relations between vampires and other beings were extremely tense.

But he didn't want to go around hiding his relationship with Fleck, either.

He glanced up and noted Fleck uncertainty.

"This is Fleck," he said to Alec, fingers lacing between Fleck's. "My partner."

He eyed Fleck with a new interest. A partner to a vampire. Now that was something he could appreciate. And to someone much older and stronger than yourself. That was something else he knew much about.

"Afternoon, Fleck."

Fleck's eloquent reply was "Uh, yeah, you too...?"

"Alek." He closed his book and set it on his lap. "You're rattled. I suppose you found out about us recently."

So Fleck was right? "Oh, so you're-"

"Not a vampire." Or many not. "I'm of a more...earthy persuasion."

Probably one of the reasons why Dick never went beyond small talk with Alek was how unsettling he was.

"He's a lycan - a werewolf," he explained to Fleck.

The latter was the more popular use out side of the supernatural community.

"Werewolves, too?" he asked Dick. Then he turned to Alek and reiterated the same question with a grin.

"Okay, that's kind of cool."

That earned a little laugh from Alek. "I suppose we have some good media coverage. Better than the drivel that poor vampires have been receiving in recent years."

A teasing little smile curled his lips and humour lit up his pale eyes. "You should see Giacinto hiss when she gets called Bella."

He raised an eyebrow at Fleck.

"Cool" wasn't the word he used when he found out about the existence of supernatural creatures.

He snorted at what Alek said. A little bit inside him wanted to see what see that. Although that probably wasn't the best idea.

"Please don't find that out, Fleck. "

"I didn't plan to. She scared me before I found out she was an immortal badass."

He certainly wasn't planning on pissing her off any time soon.

"Immortal badass? That's a new one," Alek chuckled.

A light laughter escaped Dick too.

Immortal badass was probably a phrase he would use to describe Giacinto too. The amount of times she had to save his ass was borderline embarrassing.

"Suits her more then Bella."

"But not as much as insufferable cunt."

Dick may have known her for the last five hundred years, but Alek had monopolised much of her younger years, between their long friendship and later marriage.

Alek knew her incredibly well, that that, in his opinion, was the best way to describe her.

His opinion of Alek rapidly soured, and it showed.

"I think that better describes you," he snappend.

He probably shouldn't of said that. Not to a being much older and more powerful than him. And especially not with Fleck standing right next to him.

In all honestly, he probably used the same expression to describe her. That didn't mean he liked anyone else saying it.

Alek just laughed.

"You, too then. She has his incredible way of gathering a loyal following, despite her many ugly personality quirks."

He was one of the unlucky few in her pack of loyal dogs. It was funny how such an abrasive woman could make so many loyal friends. He'd never understand the logic behind it.

Fleck laid a hand on Dick's shoulder, giving it a little squeeze and stroking his neck soothingly with his thumb.

He was kinda wary about the situation, but he wasn't going to stand back while his boyfriend was fuming.

A crack formed in the cup under where Dick's fingers were placed. Then he felt the hand rest on his neck. He glaced back. Concern was written all over Fleck's face.

Dick felt a guilt set in. Fleck should of been his number one priority here. Instead he was letting his temper getting the best of him.

Sure Alek didn't look pissed or dangerous right now. But if there is one thing living five-centuries taught him, it is that it was the calm ones are who you had to be wary of.

"C'mon, show me where you like to read."

Fleck's eyes turned up to Alek warily as he coaxed Dick's attention away from him.

"If you're showing him around, perhaps the basement could provide some fun."

Dick gave Alek one final glare over his shoulder, a blush gracing his cheeks again.

There was definatly no way in hell Dick was taking Fleck down there. While he only been down there once, by mistake, he saw more then enough. For both of them.

He lead Fleck to the other side of the libary, going past a few book cases to a bay window, fitted with a cushioned seat and pillows

"This is nice."

Fleck took a few steps in front of Dick and sat down on the cushioned window seat, leaning back against the wall and looking out at the large garden. One leg moved up t lean against the window comfortably and he patted the spot between his thighs in invitation.

"I could spend hours here with a sketchbook."

Dick took Fleck's invitation and sat down. Sipping off his shoes so he could rest his legs along the seat. He tapped Fleck's own shoe.

"Honestly, it is one of the best places to sit and draw. Especially when in is raining outside."

He leaned back against Fleck's chest. The anger melting away.

He leaned forwards, arms slipping around Dicks waist so he could reach his laces. It took a while to unlace his boots, but he kept himself and Dick sufficiently distracted by kissing along Dicks neck slowly.

"Gonna get a fang boner?" He teased. He was trying to get a laugh from divk. Or get him to swat him away in embarrassment.

Either way he just wanted Dick to relax a little after the tense confrontation.

Dick tilted his to the side, eyes closing. A smile tugged at his lips at the kisses. They were so gentle they almost tickled.

The teasing worked. He laughed and brushed his hand over his neck to stop Fleck kissing him.

"Told you, not getting one if you keep calling them that."

"You totally will at one point."

His arms locked aroubd Dicks waist and he pulled him back against his own chest firmly.

"And I will laugh. In. Your. Face."

He snughled into Fleck's chest, placing the mug on a side table conveniently placed in arms reach.

"Well, that's not very nice." But he was smiling.

"I will laugh in your face when they go away."

"And you say I'm not very nice."

He nipped playfully at Dick's fingers, forming a barrier against Fleck kissing his neck.

"I get it if you have problems getting 'em up. Lots of men do. It's nothing to be ashamed of."

The little nip left his fingers tingling.

He twisted in Fleck's lap, facing him. Cheeks rosy.

"I- what?"
